Vidyo Desktop

Vidyo conferencing system

The MSU College of Education now offers a new video conferencing system called Vidyo Desktop.  It extends the existing Polycom video conferencing systems to anyone with a computer, webcam, and an internet connection.  If you have used Skype before, this is very similar but enables higher quality video and desktop sharing for up to 10 PC or Mac users plus any Polycom room system that you might want to add.  No longer will users have to schedule a dedicated room with hard wired video conferencing units to hold a meeting via high quality video.  Nor will other participants at other locations.  Have a large group in room 252 Erickson Hall that needs to connect to a guest in a remote location that does not have access to a Polycom system?   Send them a link to your personal Vidyo Room and they will be able to participate, whether they are on a Mac or PC computer and whether they are using Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Safari for their browser.  Participants on a laptop or desktop computer just need a webcam (built-in or external) and a USB Headset or Echo-canceling speakerphone.

To get started with a personal Vidyo room, contact Laurence Bates or Terri Gustafson.  Below are system requirements and here is a link to user instructions.
